Book Hike with the North Smithfield Land Trust
We all know the benefits of reading, but there are particular benefits to reading outdoors: stress reduction, reduces anxiety and eye strain, can improve mood, focus and concentration. My Year in Books: a Challenge
When New Year comes around we're always thinking about the changes we want to make, our resolutions. At the library's circulation desk we see the books about better health, organizing your home, new theories on gardening, raising kids and becoming a better person. We've even seen those people who decide to read something different, so our mystery readers take out non-fiction, the romance readers checking out thrillers and so forth. Ultimately resolutions just seem to fade awa

Amazing MarbleEngineers
One of our last programs for 2022, and it was so much fun. Marble mazes for the whole family to work on together. These were not your remembered marble mazesf as so many parents told me. Lots of kids figuring out engineering, math, physics and architecture, all the while having tons of fun! Take a peek at how one of your marble runs worked: Watch as the marble runs down the tower, spinning the wheel, then crossing the bridge and droping down the 2nd tower and into the bowl at

Penguin Painting
December 28, 2022 Many times we look at paintings and think, I could never do that . We believe that we don't have the talent, or the time or the schooling to do it. I'm proud to say that today we had some very brave kids who took one look, and said "I can do that." And with just a little instruction they did! Each piece came out a little different, but that is where their own unique creativity has shown through. Here are the wonderful finished pieces with its artist. To see

Snow Queen
We had some very excited boys and girls at the library on December 20 to meet the Snow Queen. The program was packed with kids all excited to hear more stories of the Snow Queen and her family's adventures. There was even time for singing, and the kids voices were fantastic to hear as they all sang along to both songs! A wonderful thing to hear. Of course everyone who wanted got a chance to have an individual chat and a picture with the Snow Queen. A fun time was had by all.

Pictures with Santa
Wednesday, the 7th of December, the library had a very special visitor, Santa Claus. He came to talk to the kids about what they wanted for Christmas and to let them know if they made the naughty or nice list. I'm pleased to report that all the kids who visited did make the nice list. Of course, Miss Renee knew that already! Santa even had time to play a little magic ball and catch with the kids and even answered 2 boys lengthy list of questions. Although we did catch Santa t

Another One Bites the Dust
The thought was that this puzzle was going to take a while to put together, but no it was put together quicker than expected. We were hoping this would take us into November, but no we had to put another out with just a few days left in the month. Except for a little mix up in the tree tops this puzzle was a piece of cake. Great job!

Fall into a Cozy Puzzle
Our cozy kitchen filled with the smell of backing apples was finished today. Such a lovely puzzle, even if all the pieces were the same shape. Luckily it wasn't as hard as last month's puzzle. Our next puzzle is already out and waiting for puzzlers. It's a halloween puzzle so we're challenging you to finish by October 31, but it's not going to be easy.
