Rating: 5 stars

Genre: thriller

Baby teeth is a psychological thriller about a mother Suzette and her manipulating daughter Hanna. Hanna seems like a normal child to her father but has a deep-secret hatred for her mother and attempts to eliminate her. The book goes into detail about the perspectives of both Hanna and Suzette explain how they both feel and think of the situations and hardships of their family. As the days go on Suzette’s sanity and health begins to weaken as she’s frightened of her daughter’s (Hanna’s) “games.”

The main characters of the story are both Suzette and Hanna. The book goes into both perspectives and their views. Suzette: Suzette is the mother of Hanna and has multiple health issues which are introduced in the beginning of the book. Despite her health issues she’s tried to be the best mother she could be despite Hanna’s schemes. She’s a unique to me because she sticks out as we see her psychological health slowly decline and how she still seems to try and function.

Hanna: Hanna is a seven year old girl who’s the daughter of Suzette. She appears to be mute throughout the story only speaking when it’s her alternate personality (Mary Ann.) She adores her father (Alex) and she believes he’s the only one who “understands” her. But in her mind her mother stands in her way of her and her father. Hanna attempts multiple times to get rid of her “for good.” Hanna sticks out to me because at the beginning of the books she seems that she may just be “unwell” but as the story progresses you begin to see how twisted her mind really is. Making you question if she’s mentally unstable or straight up crazy.

This book doesn’t exactly remind me of any other book because it was my introduction to psychological thrillers. Although it doesn’t remind me of any other book, other books remind me of it. For example I have recently finished a book called “Dear Hanna” also by Zoje Stage and although it was a sequel to the first book I couldn’t help but constantly think of the first book and how it was similar yet different in it’s own twisted way.

I overall enjoyed the cover. The cover doesn’t necessarily convey what the story is about.

I did overall enjoy this book and would recommend it to others. I would recommend it because it really makes you feel the importance of each event that’s going on and makes you feel as though you’re in the story. The book takes you through a rollercoaster of emotions and hardships of a family. This book is disturbing and I wouldn’t recommend to those who don’t enjoy feeling anxious while reading or if you have a weak stomach. But if you enjoy psychological thrillers as much as I do I would 100% recommend it.
