This week in kids storytime we explored pumpkins, which included cutting a few open to see what was inside. While some of the pumpkin seeds went home with the kids to grow their own pumpkins or to eat, the leftovers we decided to share with our furry friends. As you can see in the picture above, the squirrels were very excited to have pumpkin on the menu (without all the work of opening it themselves). Halloween is just around the corner so keep an eye on your jackolanterns, or leave a few seeds inside and watch the squirrels climb into them. November 1st isn't that far away either. We'll soon be rehanging the bird feeders for FeederWatch (begins Nov. 1). Hopefully our feathered friends will soon be enjoying free lunch on us!
